Together, we will decide what feels like the best fit for you. I am a settler who grew up on Treaty 6 territory, homeland of First Nations and Metis people. I am so grateful for this land. As a therapist, my approach is rooted in depth therapy and enriched by the insights of Carl Jung and Wolfgang Giegerich amongst others. I aim to help individuals navigate through their process to unearth and address the root causes of recurring issues and patterns whether that be trauma, depression, anxiety, or other issues that are outside of awareness.
I have over 10 years of experience in mental health and my training includes but is not limited to Cognitive behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Psychodynamic (Jungian) therapy, and sensorimotor therapy. I also have experience in couples therapy utilizing the Gottman Method (Levels 1 and 2) which is known for its effectiveness in enhancing relational dynamics and bringing couples closer together in harmony.

Mental Health Therapist
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and I have spent the last three years working towards completing my Masters in Psychology from City University of Seattle. It is my belief, that regardless of the reason the individual has come to therapy - ultimately –everyone is searching for someone who can meet them where they are at, who can truly listen to them, and who can guide them in discovering their internal strength.
I approach therapy with the understanding that each person has the capacity to heal, to grow, and for self-guidance. Accessing a client-centered and trauma informed approach, I use techniques centered in Narrative Therapy, feminist therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PET).
As a former member of the Edmonton Fire Department, I was provided the opportunity to work alongside members who had been diagnosed with PTSD due to work related injuries. Ultimately, it was this experience that propelled my decision to leave the fire department and pursue becoming a psychologist. I believe that my time on the fire department equipped me with real world experience that will translate well into the therapeutic setting. My experience coming into this profession - in life and on the fire department - has emboldened me with the ability to practice in areas connected to trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals to understand and heal their relationship with shame. I come from a harm reduction approach and practice in an open and inclusive space.

Kristian began practising yoga starting in 2010, and it was in 2017 that she felt called to learn more. She committed to a more consistent practice and decided to take her first teacher training through Yogalife Studios in 2018. She finished her 200 hour training feeling eager to learn more and found Ajna Yoga’s 800 Hour Therapy program. In 2021 she began her modules working towards her Yoga Therapy Diploma and is currently in the practicum portion of her program. Over the years Kristian has developed a great respect for the ancient practice of yoga and is so grateful for her teachers who have shared and passed along so much of their knowledge for her to share herself. As much as yoga has taught Kristian about her physical body, it has taught her just as much about the other layers of being and has offered her the opportunity to know and understand herself and others better. Kristian’s teaching style is grounding, supportive, invitational, and accessible. With the primary focus always being the breath, you can come to class with a sense of curiosity and playfulness. Off the mat, Kristian is busy with her almost 2 year old at home and enjoys gardening, cooking/baking, and spending time outdoors with loved ones.

Barna Heer Registered Provisional Psychologist
Hello! I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist working in Alberta. I enjoy working with adults regarding various issues such as anxiety, depression, boundaries, concerns related to race and ethnicity, trauma, relationship concerns, difficult childhoods, shame, and self-compassion. The majority of my clinical experience has been with adults who have been impacted by trauma from sexualized violence.
Life can be challenging; we may experience trauma, relationship issues, grief and loss, or significant life changes. I believe the ways we learn to manage or cope with these challenges are all valid and important – as they help us survive difficult moments. However, if you find these coping tools are no longer working for you and would like to learn alternative tools to support your healing journey, therapy may be an option.
Therapy will not solve all of our problems, but it will help us manage life more effectively. I believe that although we cannot always escape the challenges life throws at us, we can learn to ride out the challenges – similar to watching the waves rolling onto the shore. The waves will be constant, but we can learn different tools to help us float in the water, so the waves can feel less intense.
In order to do this, I believe that a strong relationship with your therapist is the most important tool to get started. I will meet you in our sessions with warmth, humour, and empathy in order to build a safe connection to be able to dive into difficult conversations. I ensure my approach fits your individual needs by pulling techniques from various theories, such as mindful body-based psychotherapy, attachment-focused therapy, narrative therapy, feminist therapy, and eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).
I recognize the difficulty in reaching out to begin therapy and honour the bravery in taking this step. If you choose to work with me, together we will explore your story and grow towards your identified goals. I look forward to working with you!

My approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that healing occurs within a safe and trusting relationship, whether with oneself, one’s environment, or another person. I also believe that every client is an expert in their own experience. I, therefore, approach therapy from a strength-based perspective, aiming to build relationships with clients, understand their needs, help them set goals that align with their unique needs and personal strengths, and explore available solutions that lead us toward these therapeutic goals. As a Metis therapist, I am particularly sensitive to the needs of Indigenous people, and I practice from a culturally sensitive perspective that strives to respect the unique experiences of all people.
Reaching out for help in times of need can often be overwhelming. Therefore, it is important to acknowledge that seeking therapeutic support takes substantial bravery and courage. With this in mind, I strive to prioritize a safe, empathetic, and respectful space in which comfort, validation, and understanding are prioritized. Together, we can explore issues relating to stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, grief/loss, identity, shame, emotional regulation, traumatic experiences, and any other issue that would benefit from a friendly and insightful conversation.

When we are in an intimate relationship, sometimes we fight, get discouraged and feel hopeless. We may feel lost and misunderstood. In our couple work, I will help you see the negative cycle that couples enter when they fight, identify the emotional needs and bring understanding and new patterns of communication that will bring satisfaction in your couple. During our individual journey of life, we experience challenges, negative events, losses and anxiety which can make us unhappy.

To struggle is to be human, and despite the discomfort and pains involved, it is through struggle that I believe we’re able to discover our greatest strengths, expand our resilience, and experience fulfillment while living in connection with our core values.
Before completing my Masters of Counselling, I spent over 13 years working in various sales roles in the technology industry. I came to find that our mental wellness is often directly tied to our physical and emotional health and our relational world, and that our wellbeing is not always an easy thing to understand let alone talk about. It’s understandable that we might lean into a view that sees only symptoms or outcomes. However, when we connect with our inherent strengths, resources, and resilience, we can become empowered agents in our healing journey. Exploring the impact of our experiences, lifestyle, relationships, culture, and other factors through collaboration and acceptance in a safe space can be a meaningful way to reclaim our story and define our own terms for healing and wellbeing. I welcome the opportunity to understand what this may look like for you.
My therapist stance is warm, flexible, and curious, and I believe my most important role in this work is in supporting my clients to feel seen and accepted as we explore what’s happening for them. My therapeutic approach is grounded in person-centered, attachment, and systems-based philosophies. My work with clients is informed by mindfulness- and somatic-based approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. I am trained in therapy modalities Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Gottman Couples Therapy (Level 1 & 2).

I believe that healing takes place when we feel connected; connected in relationships with others and to ourselves. As a therapist, I hope to create a space where you can feel safe, seen, and heard. And from this place create the conditions needed for you to explore your inner world, discover the core of who you are, and to heal old wounds that are getting in the way of living wholeheartedly. It is an honour for me to join clients on their healing journeys; to sit in the dark places, to witness healing unfold, and to provide a loving presence through it all. Throughout my journey I have worked with individuals who have experienced significant trauma in their lives, including sexualized violence, intergenerational trauma, and childhood abuse. As a therapist I am collaborative, genuine, and gentle. My work is centered around my training in Hakomi and my other therapeutic approaches include trauma-focused therapy and attachment work.

Hi there! I am a Master of Counseling student currently in my final year of studies. For the past 15 years I have been a registered social worker predominately working with adults experiencing concurrent mental health and addiction concerns. I always appreciate getting the chance to connect with others and provide support to their journey. I have found that healing occurs when we take space to focus on ourselves, and also recognize the impact social and financial stressors can sometimes have on the ability to complete this. I strongly believe in the importance of building community and strive to do so in the therapeutic setting, as well as within each individual’s support system.
As a therapist, I value the innate knowledge and abilities each individual brings to the counselling relationship, and it is my role as a therapist to shine awareness on these abilities in order to navigate life’s challenges. I focus on providing an anti-oppressive and empathetic environment for the folks I get to support, and look forward to meeting you soon.
